This is the ultimate review on the best Cleto Reyes boxing gloves.
In this review, I’m not only going to share what the top gloves are, but I’m also excited to show you:
Jump to the pair of boxing gloves you’d like to find out about:
1. Cleto Reyes Safetec Professional Fight Gloves (Best overall, and these gloves can be used for both competition fights and sparring)
2. Cleto Reyes Training Gloves With Hook and Loop Closure for Men and Women (Runner up — best for training and beginners)
3. Cleto Reyes High Precision Boxing Gloves with Hook and Loop Closure for Men and Women (Best looking and best budget)
4. Cleto Reyes Youth Boxing Gloves (Best for kids/juniors 3-5 years old)
Goatskin leather: The Cleto Reyes Safetec boxing gloves have a carefully selected goatskin hyde that provides phenomenal quality, a radiant shine, and long-term durability.
Padding: Cleto Reyes named these gloves ‘Safetec’ because of the dual-layer, medium density foam that provides excellent shock absorption and protection. The foam is evenly distributed across the glove, meaning every area of your hand is well protected.
Double stitching: These hand-made gloves are stitched with utmost skill and caution. A lot of cheap gloves typically fray where the thumb meets the knuckle, but Cleto Reyes have diligently double-stitched without error, thereby increasing longevity for the fighter.
Comfortable: The glove feels well broken into and the inner polyester nylon liner is smooth to the skin. I also like how much padding there is at the wrist that enhances its support.
No ventilated holes: These Safetec gloves have no perforated holes. Perforated holes are usually found around the thumb and grip bar that improve ventilation due to the flow of air. Without ventilation, your hands may start to feel uncomfortable towards the later rounds of your training or fight.
In summary, this is one of the best boxing gloves I have reviewed on this blog. I love the sheer amount of effort and money Cleto Reyes have put into these Safetec Professional Fight gloves.
The quality of the materials used, the comfort you feel during, and the precision and skill that is put into hand-making these gloves leaves me obliged to rank these as Cleto Reyes’s best glove. You can use these fight gloves for both competitions and for training due to medium-density padding.
(Runner up and best for training)
Price: £126 – £209/$172 – $286 USD/$229 – $380AUD (price variations due to size and color options)
Sizes: 12oz; 14oz; 16oz; 18oz
Color options: Black; Brilliant Yellow; Citrus Green; Classic Red; Electric Blue; Metallic Purple; Pink; Silver Bullet; Solid Gold; Tiger Orange; USA Flag; White
Padding: These Cleto Reyes training gloves have multiple layers of latex foam padding that is well distributed across the glove (both palm side, by the wrist, and at the knuckle), thereby giving you great protection and a popping sensation when you strike the bag and pads.
Double stitching: Like the Safetec gloves reviewed above, these training gloves have terrific double stitching, and the people who hand-made them possess excellent attention to detail.
Attached thumb: The attached thumb will prevent your thumb from being broken and it also will help you better form a fist.
Water repellent: The linings on these gloves prevent water from entering into the glove and Cleto Reyes also uses a leather spray that protects the glove from absorbing moisture — the very thing that hinders most other leather gloves.
Easy to use: The wrist strap is very easy to take on and off, and the is made with a ballistic high-quality nylon material that enhances durability.
Ventilation: These Cleto Reyes training gloves also have perforated holes at the thumb and on the palm side of the glove, allowing cool air to flow in when your hands are hot.
Takes time to break in: The biggest reason these gloves are a runner-up is because they feel stiff in the beginning. However, with time spent training with them with hand-wraps on, you’ll eventually feel the rigidity decrease and that custom feel increase.
Overall, these Cleto Reyes Training Gloves are perfect for training and have superb padding, materials, and craftsmanship. However, expect them to take up to ten sessions to break in for a more custom fit.
(Best looking and best budget)
Price: £111-£146/$149-$189USD/$204-$268AUD. Sidenote: while this is Cleto Reyes’s least expensive boxing glove, it is still expensive. Therefore, if you’re looking for a glove that costs less than £100, TITLE has many great options to choose from. Click here to review the best TITLE boxing gloves.
Sizes: 8oz; 10oz; 12oz; 14oz; 16oz
Color options: Black/Red; Black/Silver; Black/Solid Gold; Red/Black
Beautiful design: I love the four different color combinations that you can choose and how well one color transcends to the next. This High Precision glove also doesn’t have too many logos like a lot of other gloves have such as RDX’s boxing gloves. Lastly, Cleto Reyes has also added a highly unique pattern on the wrist strap that looks like street art you would typically see on a mural.
Easy to use: The wrist strap allows for easy put-on and take-off and the glove slips on comfortably.
Lots of sizes: Many gloves typically come in two or three different sizes. These Cleto Reyes High Precision gloves come with five.
Ventilation: There are perforated holes on the palm and the thumb that allow cool air to flow in.
Loose inner material: The inner liner of these gloves are quite loose, especially by the finger pocket.
Quite tight where your thumb is: The piping by the thumb is too tight and pinches down into your thumb.
In summary, while the Cleto Reyes High Precision boxing gloves do have a few design faults, they would be the best on this list if this wasn’t the case due to their stunning design and high-quality materials.
(Best for kids/juniors 3-5 years old)
Color options: Black; Pink; White; Electric Blue; Classic Red
Attached thumb: These youth boxing gloves have an attached thumb, that will protect your child’s thumb from poking out and being injured.
Easy to use: The glove is easy to slip on and the strong wrist strap allows for adjustment.
Stitching: Cleto Reyes’s Youth boxing gloves have nice double stitching that enhances the longevity of the glove and also improves the appearance.
Faux leather: Faux leather isn’t real leather, and therefore the glove will not be as durable. The benefit of faux leather, however, is how easy it is to clean, since it doesn’t absorb moisture like real leather will.
Relatively high price: £53/$70USD/$94AUD is a high price for a children’s boxing glove, and it is a price one will typically see for an adult boxing glove, like Adidas’s adult range.
In summary, while these Cleto Reyes Youth Boxing Gloves are high priced, the child using the gloves will find them comfortable, protective, and easy to use; serving them well until they grow out of them.
Cleto Reyes is one of the longest-standing boxing brands that produce truly excellent boxing gloves.
What makes them good is the fact that every glove is handmade with close attention to detail. For example, the stitching — for all of the gloves reviewed on this guide — is perfectly put together without fraying; even in areas such as the thumb compartment and by the wrist strap.
Cleto Reyes boxing gloves are also good because of the materials that are used: real leather (something most brands overlook); multiple layers of mid-density EPA foam padding that is well distributed across the glove; attached thumb; nylon liners.
The design is also world-class, bringing together elaborate colors that synergize spectacularly, and simplicity that shows beauty.
